Revitalised from Mei Ho House, the first Mark I H-shaped resettlement block in Hong Kong, YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel is a city hostel extending the life of the building and the stories of old public housing in a vivid way. Showcasing the nostalgic Hong Kong toy, “YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel Open Day 2017” will be held on 20-21 May (Sat & Sun), with the theme “Rock the Mega Watermelon Ball @MHH”. Free admission to public.

YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel will unveil the Open Day this year with Hong Kong’s first-ever mega watermelon ball hotspot. From the discontinued watermelon balls to the newly tailor-made mega watermelon balls, guests can enjoy taking selfies and enrolling in the mini nostalgic watermelon ball match, recalling the old memories of the lives in public housing estates when a watermelon ball on the narrow verandas could make the day. The newly tailor-made mega watermelon balls will be in 5 times the size of the normal one.

In addition to the highlighted theme, there will also be a series of interactive programmes including guided tours, visit to hostel guest rooms and free giveaway of limited themed souvenirs. Mini 41 will provide various nostalgic childhood foods, including Dragon’s Beard Candy, Traditional Candy & Coconut Wrap, and Aeroplane Olive. With the theme “Rock the Mega Watermelon Ball @MHH”,
we hope to extend the unique culture in the public housing and encourage visitors to share their happy memories with friends and families.
