Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (6 Jan 2022)

MUSSORGSKY | Khovanshchina: Dawn on the Moskva River
CHEN Qigang | Un Temps Disparu for Erhu and Orchestra
BERNSTEIN | Symphony no. 2, The Age of Anxiety

Music is an art that can suspend time or recreate it, and today the HK Phil’s distinguished Principal Guest Conductor Yu Long joins erhu player Yiwen Lu and star pianist Zee Zee to explore exactly what that means. Chen Qigang’s Un Temps Disparu is a ravishing modern Chinese classic, while Leonard Bernstein’s The Age of Anxiety is half symphony, half piano concerto – and every bit as entertaining as you’d expect from the composer of West Side Story.
