MENDELSSOHN | Konzertstück no. 2
MENDELSSOHN | Piano Concerto no. 1
MENDELSSOHN | Symphony no. 4, Italian

Felix Mendelssohn was one of the most dazzling prodigies in the history of music. He created his first masterpieces before he was in his teens, and everything he wrote sparkles with the same freshness, fantasy and joy. So today, it’s fitting that we’ve got two artists who share Mendelssohn’s youthful spirit. Hong Kong-born pianist Aristo Sham needs no introduction; and the brilliant young Finnish conductor Taavi Oramo will bring all his energy and insight to the rarely-heard Konzertstück and the sunlit Italian Symphony.

The concert runs approximately 1.5 hours with an intermission

Taavi Oramo, conductor
Andrew Simon, clarinet
Lorenzo Iosco, basset horn
Aristo Sham, piano
