'Couleur de peau miel'/ Approved for Adoption
Belgium/ 2012/ 75 min
Animation

200,000 Korean children have been dispersed throughout the world since the end of the Korean War.
Jung, born in 1965 in Seoul and adopted in 1971 by a Belgian family, is one of these children.

Adapted from a graphic novel, Approved for Adoption takes a look at a few key moments in Jung's life: the orphanage, arriving in Belgium, family life, a difficult adolescence... It recounts the events that have led Jung to accept the contradictions of his existence. Being uprooted, identity issues, integration, maternal love, and a reconstituted and mixed race family are just some of the themes that are broached with poetry, humor and emotion.

Consisting of an amazing mix of live-action and drawn images, between past and present, and employing historical and family archives, Approved for Adoption is an animated autobiographical tale that breaks new ground.
