The 2017 Melbourne Moon Festival is back!

This popular annual event will be held on Saturday, 30 September 2017 (10am - 5pm) at Main St and Market St mall in Box Hill.

Organised by the Melbourne Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce the 2017 Festival marks the 27th year that the event has been held in Box Hill and it promises to be another vibrant celebration.

Traditionally celebrated on the fifteenth of the eighth lunar month it is when the moon is at its brightest and roundest. The Chinese believe that the circular shape of the moon symbolises unity and therefore family members will get together during this time to celebrate eat mooncakes and light lanterns.

The Festival will host 60 market stalls showcasing various cuisines arts and crafts cultural activities mooncakes lanterns and more! The main stage will also provide full day of entertainment – including a lion dancing performance at 11am to kick off the festivities.
