Hong Kong beatmaker Athena Chan – aka COCOONICS – has come a long way in the past year, from bedroom DJ to performing at the Hong Kong edition of legendary electronic music festival Sónar and now to the Clockenflap stage. A Journalism student at the University of Hong Kong, Chan is writing her own headlines with a sound that touches on everything from ‘80s funk, disco, jazz and hip-hop to African drums and traditional Chinese music.
