Richard Strauss used a colossal orchestra to tell the story of an imaginary hero. Ein Heldenleben is a true sonic blockbuster, and to mark his HK Phil debut, Vasily Petrenko pairs it with Elgar’s colourful postcard from London, and the fire and ice of Sibelius’s Violin Concerto, performed by the “immaculate” (BBC Music) Ning Feng.

| Cockaigne Overture
SIBELIUS | Violin Concerto
R. STRAUSS | Ein Heldenleben

Vasily Petrenko, conductor
Ning Feng, violin

The concert runs approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes with an intermission.
