Let's join our Take a "Brake" Low Carbon Action — simply by giving a day break for your private vehicle at least once a month, or, if you don’t have a car, ask the car owner around you to do so! Joining our fun and also meaningful activities, you can save our planet. The Campaign, sponsored by the Standard Chartered Hong Kong 150th Anniversary Community Foundation and convened by the Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited, gathered up three local environmental groups including Friends of the Earth (HK), Green Power and WWF-Hong Kong to reach out to corporate sector, schools and public respectively to spread the Take a "Brake" Low Carbon Action. It is also fully supported by the Environment Bureau, the Government of the HKSAR. With 420,000 private cars in Hong Kong producing 1.09 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year, which would need more than 60 million trees to absorb such amount of emissions each year, we really need to Take a "Brake"!
