YY9 Gallery is pleased to present "Abstraction" - a group exhibition of Dee Dee Choy, Kennis Chan, Silvia Chan and Tsang Chui Mei. In this exhibition, the four artists present their audiences with pieces of exquisite paintings, which have been creted based on some very delicate sensory and emotional impressions they had on various envirnments. Composed in a fairly abstract way, the paintings aim to captures a sense of fleeting, illusory and inexactitude in form of art expression. Dee Dee's new series of paitnings reveals the beauty of pure minimalism and abstraction, featuring a strong quality of hand-painted texture that the artist considers drawings. By paying painterly attention to details, she manages to reveal the emotional part that is expressed in a quiet but intense way. kennis's recent works have been inspired by some stunning natural landscapes. This series of paintings are intended to express the visual magnitudes and points of provocation through detailed selections of colors, density, and "closenessless" of marks. By building up layers of paint, she intends to imply emotions to be pulled further away from the "exact" and "literal" sense. Silvia's new series of work, "Vestige", implies the discovery of the hidden beauty in the nature. Inspired by the power of nature, her works are considered be a "co-creation" with Chopin's classical music Op.25, no.12 that transcends time and space. Tsang's ne series of works consistently follows her signature style, each of which creates a "scene" that allows her personal emotions to flow freely into the painting and tells her audience an intimate story of hers. The stories are mostly related to subjective perspective, accidental convergence, imitation and appropriation.
