Following the successful performances of The Magic Flute 2009, Pirates of Penzance, Aladdin, The Music Man, JR., The Magic Flute 2013, Fiddler on the Roof, Jr. and Hairspray JR. in previous summers, Opera Hong Kong Summer School will present Into the Woods JR. in 2016. In to the Woods JR. will be performed by young singers between 5 and 18 years old, who will attend 3-week intensive vocal training course with acting provided by Opera Hong Kong Summer School. Opera Hong Kong Summer School is organized each year to offer youngsters an opportunity to perform lively repertoire full of musical worth and humour. We hope the participants can have their creativity and observation, expression, analytical and appreciation skills enhanced through the summer school training The Story Into The Woods JR. features all of your favorite characters—Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk), Rapunzel and the Witch in this lyrically rich re-telling of classic Brothers Grimm fables. When a Baker and his Wife learn they've been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects (a cow as white as milk...a cape as red as blood... hair as yellow as corn... a slipper as pure as gold...) required to break the spell, swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella (with the slipper as pure as gold) Little Red Ridinghood (with a cape as red as blood) Rapunzel (with the hair as yellow as corn) and Jack (the one who climbed the beanstalk - with the cow as white as milk). The two set off on a journey to break the curse and wind up changed forever.
