LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and is third-party green building certification program created by the USGBC (United States Green Building Council) and maintained by the GBCI (Green Building Certification Institute). It is an internationally recognized building rating system for design, operation and construction of high performance green buildings. LEED ensures certified buildings are environmentally sustainable, operate efficiently, provide a healthy work environment for building occupants and are profitable.
Green technology stimulates job-market growth and IS opening up new business venues as it continues to grow in the global marketplace. Increasing public awareness and education in the building industry around green design, construction and operations is crucial to the continued expansion of the LEED and IBI certified buildings and the advancement of green technology in building projects.

It is difficult to pick up a newspaper or magazine without noticing that the world is going green. With rising material and energy costs, as well as greater social and legal pressures, there is a clear movement among all types of organizations to reduce their environmental impact.
