自Web2.0時代開始以來，藉由網絡發佈平台的急促發展，令媒體創作者更容易將他們的作品分享給大眾。作曲作詞、翻唱主唱、試跳排舞、自主動畫等藉由各網絡平台不斷地展現於眾多的網民面前，成為了社會風潮。他們更以不同的方式互相合作，制作出許多專業級的跨媒體作品，讓「演藝」一詞跳出了傳統媒體的框架，成為一般網民都能參與創作的娛樂。
