This is how our minds transform when we take “seeing” seriously. “Seeing comes before words”, British art critic John Berger points out the importance of “seeing” in the first chapter of Ways of Seeing. The circulation of visual images and the way people view photography have greatly impacted and disintegrated the nature of photography. Should photography be a visual feast, a platform for expression, a record of truth or simply an excitement brought by a click? 32 graduates from HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education Postgraduate Diploma in Photography have tried to grasp various concepts, remodeling photography and its meaning through the “See-Saw-Seen” process. Through thorough reflective thinking, we hope to integrate the spiritual characteristics of individual and society with photography, making visual images a platform for concepts and ideas.
