Photography compresses and focuses time, capturing it in a single result. Painting unfolds time to present it as a process. To predetermine an outcome would make painting meaningless. I am always covering things. A lot of the time, I paint something at first only to cover over it later, producingsurprises from which spring opportunities. This changes my painting destiny.
