From Couperin to Ravel, through Mozart and Chopin, France’s most popular pianist Alexandre Tharaud makes his solo debut in Hong Kong performing a varied recital in a programme that explores different facets of pianistic greatness and keyboard virtuosity.

Originally from an artistic family, Alexandre Tharaud graduated from the Paris Conservatoire and started his international career winning some of the most prestigious international piano competitions.
With a strong passion for French composers, Tharaud made a series of successful and award-winning recordings of works by Rameau, Ravel, Couperin, Chopin and Satie.
In recent seasons he has appeared at some of the most prominent venues around the world, including the Krakow Philharmonic, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Cité de la Musique, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the John F. Kennedy Centre. His festival credits include Piano aux Jacobins, La Roque d'Anthéron, BBC PROMS, Sacrum-Profanum in Krakow and the Rimini Festival.
As a soloist, Tharaud has performed with the greatest orchestras worldwide, such as Symphonie Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France, Orchestre National de France, the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra, Taïwan National Symphony Orchestra and the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra, under the baton of conductors that include Yutaka Sado, Jean Fournet, Marc Minkowski, Stéphane Denève and Georges Prêtre.
In 2012, Thauraud made his acting debut in Michael Haneke’s Cannes Festival Palme d’Or-awarded movie: Amour.
