"A well balanced masterpiece. We love it!" DJ Edu, DNA BBC, UK
Listening to the young Cameroonian singer-guitarist Blick Bassy is like listening to a musical road movie! He follows the tragic “slave route” from Cameroon to Brazil, passing through Benin, Senegal and Cape Verde sharing African and samba rhythms along the way.
While playing on stages all over the world, Blick Bassy invites audiences to discover a wide variety of African sounds, such as traditional “Hongo” and “Assiko” music, and share what is real life in African villages while playing true African beats. His music is a trip through space and time; if you close your eyes and listen, you will travel from peaceful beaches to green mountains, encounter colourful characters straight out of African tales, and your body will naturally move to African and Bossa Nova rhythms. Inspired and influenced by the sounds of Gilberto Gil, Marvin Gaye and Nat King Cole from his parents' vinyl collection, Blick Bassy mixes warm vocals and Bossa Nova guitar rhythms with funkiness and a hint of sweet melancholy.
Completely different from a music festival, the Fête de la Musique (World Music Day), is above all a free popular event, open to any participant (amateur or professional musicians) who wants to perform in it. To properly celebrate it, three local bands will warm up the audiences before the main concert.
