A journey into the heart of the finest French craftsmanship.
This solo exhibition aims to present the French know-how between tradition, modernity, luxury and genuineness through a selection of exceptional manufacturers and craftsmen.
The outstanding recognition granted to French luxury can be attributed in large part to the multitude of enterprises with a unique and ancient know-how that are part of the French economic and cultural identity. These companies ensure the conservation, valuation and transmission of the know-how of excellence and are essential in preserving the heritage as well as representing contemporary creation. The exhibition is a unique installation conceived to celebrate these talents.
Through an exceptional gathering of brands, contemporary creation converges with iconic heritage, in a “Cabinet de Curiosités” created to blur the confines of time and categorisation. The concept of “Cabinet de Curiosités” also known as wunderkammer, takes its inspiration from the encyclopedic collections of objects that were amassed and showcased in Europe in the 16th Century. Motivated by natural human curiosity, these cabinets were created to experience a sense of wonder and to study the nature of the world.
As an echo to this curiosity toward nature and manmade, the exhibition features a selection of products created exclusively by EPV labelled Companies (“Living Heritage Company”). This label was set up by the French government in 2006 to recognise excellent artisanal and industrial expertise as well as rarity of the know-how. EPV companies all have a common approach based on the passing on of expertise. A number of these exceptional brands have knowledge that is centuries-old and has been handed down from generation to generation. Discover the making of true luxury…
