Lumenvisum is proud to present “Hiroshima vs Japan 311 (Soliloquize)”, Vincent Yu’s exhibition in Hong Kong.
Vincent Yu, a veteran photojournalist, travelled to Japan and featured the Tohoku tsunami in 2011. He shot a lot of photographs with his iPhone. It was his first time to apply a smart phone in reportage. As a new experience for him, he never feel so close with photography.
Japan 311 Earthquake caused catastrophic damage. The devastation reminds him of the nuclear disaster of Hiroshima had experienced. He raised many questions during the trip. He decided to go to Hiroshima to have a look and seek for answers afterwards. Unfortunately he discovered even more questions, questions of natural disasters, human errors, repeated history, human nature, desire, survival, greed, the past, the present, the future, true, fake...
The answer seems to be difficult to find, history seems repeating again and again.
The exhibition seems as a soliloquize of Vincent Yu. The black and white iPhone photos reveal the fear and darkness of disaster. He was repeatedly questioned and answered in photography.
