From 11 July to 17 August, the International Arts Carnival showcases an array of inspiring, yet entertaining stage performances and cultural activities, aiming at sharing the enjoyment of arts with family audience. Come, kids, parents and kidults, let’s get together and have fun this summer!
The National Folk Dance Ensemble of Croatia, LADO, opens the Carnival with their Croatian folklore spectacle from 11 to 13 July at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre. By showcasing their colourful national costume, energetic song and dance, and festive music, the Ensemble turns the stage into a kaleidoscope of arts and plunges the audience into the diverse traditional Croatian culture.
Formed by generations of acrobats of one family and their friends, the Cirque Alfonse from Canada performs hair-raising acrobatics and lighthearted antics with astounding strength and skills in TIMBER!. Despite its alarmingly dangerous nature, the circus members’ strong family ties create a heart-warming atmosphere in this captivating show.
The talented arts groups from the Mainland, Australia, the Czech Republic, France, Portugal and the UK, together with brilliant local performers, bring us fantastic programmes for all ages, including drama, black light theatre, magical concert, a cappella concert, puppet musical and music theatre tailored for babies and toddlers, to name but a few. Extension activities such as workshops, cultural tours, exhibition and outreach programmes encourage parents accompanying their children to enjoy arts.
