Art Basel’s show in Hong Kong returns in March, 2015 for its third edition, with 233 leading international galleries drawn from 37 countries. Once again, Art Basel showcases the best art from Asia and the Asia-Pacific region, where half of its galleries have exhibition spaces. In addition to the Galleries and Insights sectors, which show premier artworks ranging from Modern masters to the latest contemporary pieces, many galleries present works in Art Basel’s project-based sectors: Discoveries, Encounters and Film. Additionally, our daily Conversations and Salon series hold extensive discussions that explore key issues in today’s artworld. Sectors Our show's sectors allow visitors to explore the many dimensions of Modern and contemporary art including museum-caliber paintings, sculptures and classical photography, as well as a curated selection of large-scale works that transcend a gallery's traditional art show stand. Galleries Art Basel’s core sector presents over 170 of the world’s leading Modern and contemporary art galleries showing 20th and 21st century works. Insights Insights brings 34 galleries from Asia and the Asia-Pacific region with solo shows and curatorial projects developed specifically for Art Basel. Discoveries Discoveries will present a strong showcase of emerging stars from across the world with solo and two-person exhibitions presented by 20 galleries. Encounters Dedicated to presenting large-scale sculpture and installation works by leading artists from around the world, Encounters provides visitors with the opportunity to see works that transcend the traditional art fair stands. Encounters is curated by Alexie Glass-Kantor, a curator, writer, and Executive Director of Artspace, the preeminent contemporary art institution in Sydney, Australia. Film Film is an exciting program of films by and about artists held at the Hong Kong Arts Centre, and curated by multi-media artist Li Zhenhua. Magazines Art publications from around the world display their magazines in single-magazine stands or the collective booth.
