展覽將展出超過七百件精選自粵、港、澳三地重要考古遺址出土的文物，探討三地從舊石器時期至明代的歷史和文化發展，全面展示過去數十年來三地的考古成果、考古技術的進步及公眾考古的發展。重點展品包括廣東、香港及澳門新石器時期遺址出土的石製工具和飾物、廣州市南越國和南漢的宮殿與王陵遺址所發現的重要文物，陽江和南澳古代沉船考古出水的宋代及明代瓷器，以及澳門聖保祿學院(大三巴)遺址出土的明代青花瓷器等。
展覽期間，香港歷史博物館將舉辦國際學術研討會，邀請專家學者分享嶺南地區的考古發現和研究成果。
