Lumenvisum is proud to present “Emerging Mountains” A solo exhibition of Hong Kong ceramics artist, Fiona Wong Lai-ching. Her works explore the imagery of mountains in-between photography and ceramics.
From time immemorial, people used to see the mountains within the frames, the flattened mountains transcending time and space and fabricating a new reality. Especially the amazing landscape in Chinese Painting was fascinating to Wong, she makes reference to the brush and line in Chinese Painting, using clay to mold and represent the imagery of mountains in three dimensions.
The works in "Emerging Mountains" were inspired by the geographical landscape in Hong Kong. Wong surprised the official landscape photos, which bring her historical and realistic sense. With the memory and imagination, she applies clay and pottery to represent the mountains and islands in Hong Kong and creating a new view of our known world.
In this exhibition Wong leads audience to re-read the mystery places in Hong Kong, with the humble vessels paying tribute to the stunning natural world we are living in.
