INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED COMPOSER AND PIANIST YIRUMA TO PERFORM FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MALAYSIA AND HONGKONG THIS OCTOBER!
MODE ENTERTAINMENT proudly announces the widely-anticipated arrival of YIRUMA in Malaysia and Hong Kong! In this 2 countries for the FIRST TIME for a ONE NIGHT ONLY concert, the internationally-renowned Pianist-Composer from South Korea will be performing at Plenary Hall, KLCC, Malaysia, on 4th October (Saturday) 2014 at 8pm, before heading to Hong Kong to perform at Star Hall, KITEC on 8th October (Wednesday) 2014 at 8pm.
Says Yiruma of his forthcoming concert in Malaysia and Hong Kong, “I am very grateful that I will be performing in Malaysia and Hong Kong for the first time. I have heard that many fans there are already enjoying my music. Hopefully, my live performance would make you feel much more lyrical and emotional”.
Yiruma
Yiruma is the stage name of Lee Ru-ma (Korean 이루마), an internationally-known pianist and composer from South Korea. Yiruma frequently performs at sold-out concerts across Asia, Europe and North America. His alma mater, King's College London, England helped him gain European popularity and recognition. Among his most popular pieces are "River Flows in You", "Kiss the Rain" and "May Be".
Yiruma is considered to be a big influence to many K-pop artistes. The most recent collaboration was with Super Junior M’s member Henry, where they teamed up for a new version of Yiruma’s famous tune [River Flows in You]. In a particular episode of the well-received Korean Variety program , Chanyeol of boy group EXO and actor Seo Kang Joon were asked to show off their piano skills and both artistes coincidentally chose different tunes from Yiruma. Seo Kang Joon also shared that he had played this same piece in one of the scene from his drama [Cunning Single Lady]. Taemin, member of the popular boy band SHINee, also chose to play Yiruma’s famous piece [River Flows in You] during his solo performance in a TV special.
Inspired by his surroundings and memories, his music has been described by as “beautiful”, “serene”, “soothing”, “emotional” and “consoling”, notching up more than 300 million YouTube views.
This composition garnered huge media and online buzz as fans expressed that “River Flows in You” would have been a perfect piece for use as “Bella’s Lullaby” in the scene where the male lead Edward hummed to Bella in the series “Twilight”.
Yiruma began playing the piano at the age of five and moved to London when he was eleven, in 1988, to study at The Purcell School of Music. He was also the first Korean artist to receive an invitation to perform at the 2002 MIDEM in Cannes, France.
With eight critically-acclaimed albums in his 12-year esteemed music career, Yiruma's music is popular among classical lovers, piano students, and has also touched many listeners who are not familiar with classical music. Besides composing theme pieces for OST of popular Korean dramas such as Winter Sonata, Secret Garden and Spring Waltz, Yiruma has also collaborated with numerous top Korean names such as award winning diva Baek Ji-Young, Shinee, and 2AM.
His music is also well-loved by the Christian community; one of his renowned compositions being "Lord...Hold My Hand".
