In the beginning, all is without form and void. Subsequent to collision, interaction and convergence, order is created; form and cognition appeared. That’s how our story begins.
Seven individuals; seven entangled minds converged through clay and expressed in one exhibition.
Akin to many urbanites, we live with heavy workloads and pressure in everyday life. Pottery cleanses our souls; mends cracks of regrets left behind as we grow up; clears tangled thoughts; awakens the seed of creativity buried deep within us. It nourishes our lives.
Kevis Wong
As an architect, Kevis is intrigued by space and structure. Through repeated expression of structured elements, he speaks of lightness versus heaviness and of order in a sentimental demeanor as he constructs his utopia by bringing out softness in strength.
Joyce Li
Weariness in life is forgotten when Joyce is at the wheel. To her, who works in the field of public relations, ceramics is a salvation. Her inner struggle and yearning is repeatedly expressed through wheel thrown pots, where screaming sensations pierced the serene rhythm of spinning.
Jessie Cheung
Bringing out the beauty of the abstract female form has always been Jessie’s area of interest. As an accountant, she explores the natural beauty of contours with the use of combinations of different clays and glazes. She expresses her understanding and insistence towards beauty through a series of ceramic sculptures of simplicity and tranquility.
Gary Tse
Plowing slabs of concrete into strips of green is not something you usually do in Hong Kong. Gary, a city farmer, has developed an intricate relationship with soil. His love and respect for nature are epitomized by his dedication to plantation and pottery. He also gets closer to his inner self and landscape through exploring the relationship between the existence of “man” and “nature” in his works.
Alice Li
Works by Alice, a secondary school teacher, are statements of internal-external conflict and harmony. Yet, she strikes a delicate balance when pairing gentleness against fieriness. Through meticulous assemblies of pottery pieces, she strives to unlock the mystery of human existence buried deep in her.
King Fung
Pure exploration of form and style is not King’s source of creativity. As a pottery instructor, King’s creations and daily life is about pursuing the truth, experiencing the secrets of life through ceramics. Throwing is the origination of her works. The hypnotizing rhythm of the wheel offers King the space to deconstruct her “self” from different angles.
Chris Lo
The passing of time teaches one to cherish. Distant yet friendly faces transpired as the hours slip by. Old pieces, cradles of histories, stir up nostalgia. Chris, a potter, starts with items from the past. Uniting clay with scenes and items long etched in heart, he lets imaginations flow through the space of time, soaking up moments with “reacquainted past love”.
