13 tells the story of the 12 years old protagonist Evan Goldman, preparing for his 13th birthday. According to the Jewish tradition he is going to hold a coming-of-age ceremony, Bar Mitzvah, yet his peaceful little world falls apart all of a sudden at this important turning point. His parents got divorced, and he is moving from his hometown New York City to a small town in Indiana.
