PubArt Gallery is pleased to have first collaboration with Arthongkong.net presenting a group exhibition of new works featuring 10 Hong Kong-based artists.
Miniature art has a long history spanning a vast geographic area, from 13th century court paintings in Persia, to 15th century monastic manuscripts in France, to pocket portraits in the Elizabethan era. They are generally small in scale and developed into single-sheet in either watercolor or other medium. People have to get very close to the paintings so as to review all the details and strokes presented. The exhibition “Closer” is then given because of this unique feature.
In this exhibition, each artist portrays his/her personal interpretations of the show’s theme, ‘Closer’ - but only on canvases 2” x 3” or 4” x 4”, taking a contemporary spin on the historical tradition of miniature art. Miniature art definitely is an alternative other than we usually find the big canvas in the exhibitions that “Closer” encourages us not only to look closer to the artworks, but also to get nearer to the idea of the artists by appreciating the artworks in such a short distance.
“Closer” will be exhibited at PubArt Gallery for a week only when 10 artists will be featured in the show. They are Silvia Chan, Beverly Fung, Mark Goss, Lori Ho, Hannah Hodson, Kako Peco, Stanley Shum, Rainbow Tse, Amelia Wong and ZeZe.
