Scent, a distinctive pleasant smell brings forth a flood of memories. A person, an event, even a piece of music... never would be same as a characteristic smell that deeply holds in our breathes.
A tapestry of people is weaving in and out of our lives, and people come into our lives for a season or a lifetime that we may not able to remember every moment and person walks or drives past. The scent of a particular one as an exception, left a powerful memory trigger connecting to our experiences of emotions as well as emotional memory.
The artist, Jeffrey Leung chose “Scent of Women” as the theme of his solo painting exhibition featuring not his sentiment towards women but his “pleasant scent” (passion) towards arts. His paintings break through confines of traditions by adding the vibrant lines and vivid colors on the canvas. Jeffrey has softened the focus of the paintings that the special effect as highlight on the canvas created interest and visually enlarged the sense of space.
The painting shows the women in different style together with the varied gentle strokes that each canvas are exuded a distinctive scent recalling our hidden sense of memory.
In the collection of “Scent of Women”, Jeffrey tries to evoke your pleasant memory of a person, an event and a characteristic smell of freshness and romance that we all would immediately revel in the moment with the "Scent of Women”.
