JCC
JCC, the first drum ‘n’ bass DJ and promoter in South China, started to play d ‘n’ b in early 2007 publicly with MC Savant after being a bedroom DJ for a long while. Shortly after getting involved in the electronic music scene, JCC gained remarkable respect not only for her skills on decks, but also, more importantly, for her passion for music and efforts to revitalize the monotonous club scene in Guangzhou.
In early 2010, JCC and her new partner vno started 嘈!ChAos (ChAosLab) after the two collaborated to organize The Big X’mas ChAos, Guangzhou’s first drum ‘n’ bass mini-festival, during Christmas 2009. To date, 嘈!ChAos has successfully thrown a number of very impressive events, both independently and along with other crews and promoters, earning a reputation as one of the leading electronic party labels in GZ. ChAos is now considered one of the most significant nights in Guangzhou, even South China, and deservedly so.
So far, JCC has played in many cities both inside and outside of China for a wide range of well-established party labels such as Shanghai’s Sweatshop and Antidote, Heavy Hong Kong, Healthy Macau and Beijing’s Science of Sounds and The Drop, Berlin’s Subhead, Berlin’s Shlomp, Berlin’s Robox Neotech, and many more. Her dark, punchy, hard-hitting style keeps revelers dancing, but also takes them to an end of the electronic spectrum that they may not be used to. Her live show is a truly unique musical experience, perhaps in itself ‘the future of drum ‘n’ bass’.
Now based in Germany, JCC has been developing a new music style, not limited to Drum&Bass and Jungle, she is playing a mixture from 120 bpm to 170 bpm Bass Music. Dance-floor driving is a promise. Hold tight to her.
As a supporting DJ, JCC played along with well-known artists including DJ Marky, DJ Storm, G Jone, Doshy, Pixelord, Joe Syntax, and more.
Upbeat Cynic
Upbeat Cynic (formerly JJMC... until the inner cynic rose up & beat him back!) started to emcee over jungle and spin vinyl as an excitable teenager in London back in the mid 90’s. Playing at a range of pirate stations and raves - including Ruud Awakening FM, Legends of the Dark Black and Dynamics - he also promoted a number of club nights in Brighton, UK, hosting a range of drum n’ bass and hip hop talents such as Task Force, Mc Junior Red and DJ Emz. Performance partners on the mic have included Junior Red, Dap-Funkuda and the now global phenomenon that is UK Beatbox Champion Beardyman.
His latest track A.D.H.D. draws from his own experiences of those excitable teenage years, and his experiences as an educator. He has formerly worked as a boxing journalist, an educator within schools and universities and is in the process of completing his first novel, set in London. Expect thoughtful lyrical content and a range of delivery styles.
