Chinese New Year is the most boisterously celebrated Chinese festival in Hong Kong. To add to the energy, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) will roll out a new show in the Hong Kong Pulse 3D Light Show, covering the façade of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and the Clock Tower with festive elements, including fai chun (Chinese New Year couplets) and sizzling firecrackers. The show will run four times a day from tomorrow (12 February) to 18 March (except from 18 to 20 February), two weeks longer than originally planned. A three-part show to usher in the Year of the Sheep Part 1: The return of spring Chinese New Year coincides with the return of spring, so the show will begin with elements of vitality, including blossoming flowers, leaping koi fish and chirping birds. Part 2: A celebration of traditions To wish the spectators a prosperous Year of the Sheep, the second part of the show will feature various symbols of good fortune, including gold coins, red packets and the God of Wealth, as well as other traditional cultural elements, like paper cut outs and revolving lanterns. Part 3: Festivities in the city Part three will be a showcase of special celebratory events, including the International Chinese New Year Night Parade, the fireworks display above Victoria Harbour, and the Spring Lantern Festival, complemented by Chinese music and drumming to highlight the cheerful, festive ambience in Hong Kong. Advanced computer drawings The creative team has made use of advanced computer drawings to give birth to lifelike images, including peacocks, dancing lions, and koi fish, which will take the spectators’ breath away. In addition, those who missed the previous Hong Kong Pulse 3D Light Shows will be able to view a selection of scenes from past shows, including the game of mahjong and the moving candy house, between 7 and 18 March. The Hong Kong Pulse 3D Light Show – Third Phase 12 February to 18 March 2015 (except from 18 to 20 February) Four shows every evening, at 8:30pm, 9:00pm, 9:30pm, and 10:00pm. Each show lasts about 15 minutes. - The show will feature a theme song, which will be played during the show at the venue and on radio channels FM103.4 MHz, FM106.8 MHz, and FM107.9 MHz. - Members of the public can also download the Hong Kong Pulse Sound Track mobile app to listen to the theme song and get details of the show.
