We could not be more excited to announce the return of the mighty Drums to Hong Kong!
When we put them on back in 2011 the atmosphere was electric: our first stage diver, teenagers storming the backstage and a singalong to ‘Lets go Surfing’ which just about drowned out the band. It was hairs on the back of your neck stuff and we knew then that we were witnessing a band that was about to catapult to world domination!
With their explosive live shows and a sound and image that was set to define ‘hipster’ they were soon dubbed "New York's official coolest new band" by NME. Their incredible live performances saw them on the road to becoming one of the biggest indie bands and their second album Portamento achieved wide critical acclaim. The Drums toured the world excessively and in 2013 Jacob and Johnny decided to hole up in a fittingly bleak rehearsal space and spent the next year composing and recording their most sophisticated and cohesive album yet ‘Encylopedia’.
If their first album was Joy Division meets the surf sounds of The Beach Boys then the third album Enclyclopedia is 'Cabaret Voltaire meets indie pop’ (Yuen Chi Chung) . The first single ‘Magic Mountain’ sees The Drums move into an edgier avante garde territory with a more complex arrangement and a stunning vocal treatment. The second single ‘Can’t Pretend’ shows The Drums at what they can do like no other - perfect pop melody matched with a hauntingly dark lyric.
The Drums are back and with 3 albums under their belt and a new line up that includes Johnny Aries from (Two Wounded Birds) we can guarantee their live show will be captivating, charismatic and completely unmissable!
