Music Hits The Valley treats fans to musical journey through the generations
For three Wednesday nights this January, Happy Valley Racecourse is taking a musical journey through the generations, offering fans favourite tunes and pop cultural icons from the 1960s through to the present day. Happy Wednesday fans will be treated to the full vibe of a music festival, complete with lookalikes of legends such as Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga, and on-course games with prizes worth over $80,000, sponsored by renowned Danish brand Bang & Olufsen. The three fun-filled racenights promise to be brimming with festive atmosphere and stellar on-track action.
Rock Around the Clock
At these three special race nights, the Beer Garden amps will be turned up between races with DJ Samir showcasing the best the decade has to offer.
Selfie with the Stars
On hand all evening will be lookalikes of musical legends of yore, including Michael Jackson, Madonna and Lady Gaga who will be at the Beer Garden to meet, greet and pose for snaps with fans.
Get in the Zone
A collaboration with innovative Danish brand Bang & Olfusen will see the Happy Wednesday parties set new levels of style. At the all-new Experience Zone, racegoers can check out fascinating photos from each musical decade while enjoying product trials in the unique B&O corner. And would-be choreographers beware – the Experience Zone boasts a toe-tapping interactive game, in which they can cut together their own scene using clips from the most iconic personalities of the last half-century of music, then upload their custom videos to social media to share with friends. The three best entries from each week will receive a pair of limited edition B&O PLAY headphones (worth $1,500).
Best Dressed Award
From Beatlemania to The DISCO Era, all racegoers should come to the racecourse in an outfit that celebrates the musical generation of the night! And don't forget the selfie stick, simply snap a pic of your retro look in front of our on-site decorations or with our lookalike music icons, upload it to Facebook or Instagram, and tag it #HWParty and designated hashtag to win a great participation prize. But if you're really keen, dust off that air guitar – the best fan photo from each week's event will win a grand prize, a Beo Play A9 Rosemailing Speaker (worth $21,000), courtesy of B&O!
Groovy Foodies
Happy Wednesday fans will feast on a special theme menu throughout January, with retro food items on offer to make the journey through musical history complete. The food items include: Devils on Horseback (Prunes wrapped in bacon then grilled until crisp) (HK$45), Pigs in Blankets (Pork sausage wrapped in puff pastry) (HK$48), Shrimp Cocktail (HK$45), Chicken Kiev (Deep fried chicken breasts stuffed with garlic herbed butter) (HK$58), and Steak & Kidney Pie (HK$55).
