Le French May presents an exhibition about one of the most loved fashion item in history – Shoes. «500 Years of French Passion for Shoes» will detail the historical evolution of French artistry for footwear.
Sandal, spartan, clog, poulaine, chopine, slipper, brogue, Molière, Cromwell, mule, ballet pump, ankle strap, Mary Janes, loafer, derby, sneaker, ankle boot, boot, court, high heel, stiletto etc; the sheer abundance of names for different types of shoes illustrate why the fashion item have fascinated both men and women for centuries. Curator Anne Camilli will disclose the richness of shoe history, creativity and know-how thanks to a stunning selection of French vintage and contemporary shoes, documents and tools. It is made possible thanks to the initiative of La Federation Française de la Chaussure, and an exclusive collection of exhibits from Le Musée de la Chaussure of Romans-sur-Isère, and private lenders.
