The School of Creative Media (SCM) is more than delighted to present the SCM Annual 2015, a collection of 59 works from the graduating class and 8 selected works from other undergraduate students. Having received 3 years of professional trainings, the first cohort under the new curriculum cannot wait to stage their fruition. The annual show will be open daily to public from July 14 to August 2, 2015, at the Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre in City University of Hong Kong. An opening reception will be held on 14 July at 7 p.m., where the public is also welcome.
The new curriculum of diverse art disciplines at SCM encourages students to create both traditional and interdisciplinary art with uniqueness and excellence. The showcase of artworks covers different forms of art including photography, films, interactive installations, etc., while screenings of 2D and 3D animation, documentaries, narrative and experimental films are scheduled to screen at the cinema theatre.
The exhibited works each reveals a story of the student, the harvest after years of continuous experimentations and endless efforts. This year, the theme of the graduation show is ‘Flux’. Flux is a current of continuous change. In the state of flux, the students as artists seek alternatives and make instantaneous adaptations when confronting obstacles. Named after ‘Flux’, the show captures the students’ transcendence in the artmaking processes.
At the SCM Annual 2015, the graduating class will articulate their voices with each of their own distinctive media artwork. The event will indeed be a indelible one, where the fresh blood will be establishing themselves as youthful artists to the local art scene.
