A Quiet Inquisition Director: Alessandra Zeka and Holen Sabrina Kahn/USA and Nicaragua /2014/66 min /In Spanish with Chinese and English subtitles A Quiet Inquisition is an intimate portrait of a brave doctor and a meditation on revolution, political power and an historically complex national identity. At a public hospital in Managua, Nicaragua, Ob-gyn Dr. Carla Cerrato contends with the harrowing implications of a recent law that prohibits and criminalizes the termination of any pregnancy - even in cases of rape, incest, or to save a woman’s life. As she and her colleagues navigate between their fear of prosecution and their shame of breaking the Hippocratic oath, the legal and ethical tightrope they walk becomes an eye opening tale that crosses borders. Awards: Winner of The Václav Havel Jury – A Special Mention, One World Human Rights Film Festival 2015, Czech Republic.
