Beneath the Blindfold Director: Kathy Berger and Ines Sommer/USA/2012/55 min/In English with Chinese subtitles The movie features four individuals who have gone through traumatic torture experiences, including a previous child soldier from Liberia, a U.S. Navy veteran imprisoned in Abu Ghraib, a female doctor from Guatemala and an actor from Colombia. These 4 torture survivors are not specific cases, rather they represent more than 500,000 survivors who live in the U.S. Despite their life threatening experiences, they are finally empowered to speak out and become public advocates for an end to torture. Beneath the Blindfold is the first documentary to fully look at the lifelong impact of torture on people’s physical and psychological health.
