Camera can create photographs, but photographs do not necessarily come from the camera. There is a common misconception that photographic images must form through the camera lens or a mainstream belief that the core of photography is essentially the camera. Whether as documentation of daily lives or during artistic processes, photography has been too reliant on the camera, which is merely an apparatus after all. There are myriad ways of producing images with light. Without the constraint of the camera, individuals are free to create and explore the world of photography.
EXPOSURE: Camera-less Photography Exhibition showcases a series of photographic works from 6 young artists. All exhibits are created through different methods, in absence of the camera. The artworks urge us to reconsider the notion of photography, not only in terms of its possibilities in creating imagery, but also of its intrinsic relationship with reality.
