Award-winning Titles from 17 Countries Presented by European Union Office to Hong Kong and Macao, in association with Broadway Cinematheque, European Union Film Festival 2016 will bring 17 award-winning titles from the past two years to the Broadway Cinematheque and PALACE ifc from 26 February to 11 March 2016. The Festival will open with the long-awaited historical Irish drama Brooklyn (2015), directed by John Crowley, and led by the charming Saoirse Ronan and Domhnall Gleeson. It has received 3 main nominations at Oscarsincluding Best Picture and Best Actress. Adapted from Colm Tóibín’s award-winning novel of the same name, this profoundly moving film tells a story of a young Irish girl has her heart spanned the Atlantic Oceans. The Austrian glacial thriller Goodnight Mommy (2015) will conclude this year’s Festival. The film, directed bythe wife of the renowned Austrian auteur Ulrich Seidl, Veronika Franz and produced by himself, representsAustria to compete for the Best Foreign Language Film at Oscars and has taken home more than 10 international film awards, would certainly give the EUFF 2016 a fruitfully chilling end.
