Osage Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of works by painters Ma Shuqing, Ng Joon Kiat and Ian Woo. Titled, “Walking Dreaming Painting”, the exhibition explores the processes and consciousness that results in the paintings by the three respective artists. As in walking, we encounter active meditations, the filtering of everyday hustle and bustle, paralleled by the encountering of boundaries, man-made and artificial, and the immanent experiences of the flow, friction and movements of and between humans and nature. As in dreaming, we experience forms that arise from our deep subconscious, colors that fill in for the lack of representation, and the poetic. As in painting, we are reminded that these artists push and comment on the capabilities of paint as a medium using paint itself. We are witnesses to the ability of paint to measure time, to give form to space, and to open up a flat plane.
