A soothing and tranquil afternoon at classical Chinese Nan Lian Garden
INTRODUCTION
Based in Estonia where singing is a national passion, Hong Kong-born Chan Ka-bo has established himself as a soloist of the Grammy Award-winning Estonian National Male Choir. As one of very few active Hong Kong countertenors today, his performances in Europe, Russia and China have been met with acclaim.
In the serene and unique setting of the classical Chinese Nan Lian Garden, don’t miss this opportunity to witness Chan Ka-bo’s eagerly awaited homecoming, as he performs two concerts with the Estonian guitarist and theorbist Kristo Käo. Kristo will be performing some solo works with guitar and theorbo as well.
Some of the most beautiful melodies by Handel (the well-loved Lascia ch'io pianga), Purcell and the great Elizabethan composer and lutist, John Dowland, will be featured in their absorbing first concert, devoted to 16th and 17th century music.
Moving forward from the Baroque and Renaissance eras, their second programme offers another tranquil escape with Schubert’s Ave Maria, Brahms’ Lullaby and many art songs as well as guitar solos written by German and Estonian composers.
Be ready to be astounded by this rare, gifted voice.
