King Lear – Synopsis
In 2017, Broadway Cinema circuit will join hand with Royal Shakespeare Company, one of the most prestigious theatres in the UK, to bring 2 pieces of Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece to the big screens in cinemas!
King Lear (RSC 2017), one of the all-time greatest tragedies, will be brought to HK in mid-February 2017 while the magical The Tempest (RSC 2017) will be coming in May 2017!
King Lear has ruled for many years. As age begins to overtake him, he decides to divide his kingdom amongst his children, living out his days without the burden of power.
Misjudging his children’s loyalty he soon finds himself stripped of all the trappings of state, wealth and power he had taken for granted. Alone in the wilderness he is left to confront the mistakes of a life that has brought him to this point.
Antony Sher returns to play King Lear, one of the greatest parts written by Shakespeare. The production is directed by Artistic Director Gregory Doran.
