With the 89 th Academy Awards just around the corner, MOViE MOViE (NowTV Ch 116) is showcasing 10 of this season’s hottest movies at (name of the event). Held over the weekend (Sat 25/2 - Sun 26/2) before The Oscars, it is an excellent opportunity for movie fans to watch them all in a row at two of Hong Kong’s best cinemas, Broadway Cinematheque and Broadway THE ONE. Three of the movies to be screened have not yet come to Hong Kong cinemas. These include SILENCE, the latest film from legendary director Martin Scorsese, which took him 28 years to bring to the screen, HELL OR HIGH WATER, nominated for 4 Academy Awards including the Best Picture, and LIFE, ANIMATED, a documentary adapted from book by Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Ron Suskind. Some of the most beloved past winners and nominees will also be featured on our channel. Also included in our marathon line-up are MOONLIGHT, produced by Brad Pitt and nominated for 8 Academy Awards; LA LA LAND, which took home a record 7 Golden Globes and received 14 Oscar nominations, tying for the most ever with TITANIC; MANCHESTER BY THE SEA, produced by Matt Damon and starring Best Actor frontrunner Casey Affleck; and Best Foreign Language Film nominees TONI ERDMANN, the celebrated comedy from Germany, and LAND OF MINE, the untold true story of post-WWII Europe; CAPTAIN FANTASTIC, which won Viggo Mortensen, star as The Lord of the Rings, his first nomination for Best Actor; and FIRE AT SEA, nominated for Best Documentary Feature. Starting from Wednesday, 8 February you can purchase tickets online or at the box office at Broadway Cinematheque and Broadway The One. MOViE MOViE Subscribers can enjoy a 20% discount. At each screening there will also be special gift giveaways for those in attendance. Throughout February, past Best Foreign Language Film winners will screen on MOViE MOViE (Now TV Ch 116) every Saturday night at 10pm, including our first showing of last year’s winner, SON OF SAUL.
