City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) is excited to present a series of dazzling productions, lighting up the concrete jungle of Hong Kong and rallying the best of Chinese talent to create dance for the world.
The 2017 Season opens with Post-Perception/Transcendence – a new work choreographed by world renowned Tibetan choreographer Sang Jijia, examining the many faces of life. In May, CCDC dancer Bruce Wong gives us the premiere of Why Not Kill Us All... which ponders on our world through martial arts and dance. In August, CCDC stages our second production for families, The Little Prince, choreographed and directed by CCDC Assistant Artistic Director Dominic Wong.
Based on the well-loved story, this dance theatre integrates contemporary dance, literature, live music and live sand art drawing. On 21 to 26 November, CCDC will present the season highlight, City Contemporary Dance Festival 2017, a major contemporary dance event in Hong Kong. The festival aims to create an interactive platform by bringing audience, artists and arts presenters to a series of public performances, showcases, symposium and networking events with the theme of “East Asia Dance”
From screen dance to dance documentaries, CCDC Jumping Frames International Dance Video Festival 2017 will be held, featuring premieres of new commissions from Hong Kong, China and Taiwan, as well as a handpicked selection of sought-after dance films and documentaries, bringing dance in digital media to a wider audience.
