Wan Fung Art Gallery is proud to present Forbidden City in Wood: Tian Li's Prints Exhibition from 8th April to 22ndApril, 2017. This exhibition presents the amazing Chinese painting and block printing works of Tian Li.The opening reception will start at 3pm, 8th April, 2017. Tian Li, member of China Artists Association and China Printing-making Association. Born in Liaoning Province in 1946, finished his study in Special Crafts Department of Beijing Art & Design Academy in 1968, and graduated with a degree of Decorative Painting from Department of Fine Arts, Beijing University for Nationalities in 1987. Tian’s works were exhibited in the 8th,9 th, and 10th National Exhibition of Fine Arts, and the 15th and 16th National Prints Exhibition, and a number of them have been displayed abroad in China Modern Prints Exhibitions in Japan, Brazil, Singapore and other countries which sponsored by Ministy of Culture. His main works have been collected by National Art Museum of China, Heilongjiang Art Museum, Shenzhen Art Museum, Guangdong Art Museum, Sichuan Printmaking Museum, Shandong Qi Lu Gallery, Anhui Artist Association, Beijing Artists Association and People’s Daily Press.His print “Home” won the golden Prize in the first China fair in 21st Century for Excellent Works of Calligraphy and Painting held by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. “Shades of Steel City” and “Spring Breeze” in Ancient Path won the second prize in Beijing Exhibition of Fine Arts. Chinese painting and printmaking is the carrier of Tian Li’s spirit. His works are brilliant , solemn and quiet, strong and gentle. There is no historical burden, there is no realistic impatience, but have deep and serious national culture and distinct sense of the times. He is admiring this solidified historical scenery instead of displaying that past splendid and sentimental mood. His artworks have no thoroughly reproduced that architecture, but is creating a series of cultural image. For Chinese painting, he emphasizes the shade of ink at the same painting in an elegant way. For print-making , he makes great efforts to shift some special artistic language of block printing, uses high purity color and different materials, pursues the result of the skin texture, which have showed his superb ability to control artistry, and displayed the glamour of block printing with peculiar artistic language as well.
