In April 2017 the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority launched the Hong Kong Young Architects & Designers Competition – a new event inviting Hong Kong designers and architects in the early stage of their careers to design an iconic Temporary Pavilion for the West Kowloon Nursery Park. The competition attracted an overwhelming response – with 320 submissions judged by an expert panel of local and international jurors. To share the creative talent of the city’s young designers and architects, we are staging a week-long exhibition featuring detailed drawings and concept models of the three short-listed designs, along with a selection of stand-out submissions. The exhibition runs from 25 to 31 January at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The winning design will be announced in February 2018, and the selected pavilion will be built at a waterfront location in the Nursery Park, offering visitors an inviting, informal temporary public space with spectacular harbour and sunset views.
