Description
The ultimate goal of all arts is the building.” Bauhaus was one of the most influential cultural movements of the 20th century, reaching far beyond architecture to affect all pillars of design, including graphics, typography, products and furniture, and even today’s digital gadgets. Originating from Germany, Bauhaus has been shaping cities and everyday life in all corners of the world. leads us through the Bauhaus journey: commencing with the highlights of the 20th and 21st century, the birth of the Bauhaus school and its evolution, and moving on to the ecological issues facing our planet and how we can create a more sustainable world. We explore the meaning of life, converse with the Z generation and discover their lifestyles and concerns as technology natives; and we find ways to integrate sustainable building with human habitats and the environment. We dive into the forward-thinking of the Bauhaus founder, Walter Gropius and how the Bauhaus movement shaped today’s architecture and design, including the skyline of Hong Kong, and we see Bauhaus from the eyes of Generation Z, witnessing Bauhaus in the digital age – and responding to social needs through new techniques, new materials, new ways of construction, and new attitudes. From ‘form follows function’, to ‘virtual into physical’, we discover how new technologies are continuing the Bauhaus movement with digital transformation for the next generation.
