Olivia Steindler, Italian violinist, was born in Germany into a family with musical traditions: her great-grandfather and her great-uncle were the German musicians Bernhard and Paul Dessau. She plays a German violin, Jacob Stainer School from 1682. She began learning the violin at the age of three; a year later she was admitted to the Akademie für Tonkunstin Darmstadt, where she had her first public performances.
