Gallery Jeeum is now showing Los-Angeles based artist Erin Morrison’s first solo show in Hong Kong. “Easy Money” studies the Hong Kong 1 cent coins as a daily meditation practice and first personal introduction to Hong Kong as she moved here in the summer of 2019. Based on extensive research and visits to shops around Ladder Street in Sheung Wan, the artist’s works on paper focus specifically on coins from 1862 and 1941. Intricate layers of painting and casting are involved to ‘reproduce’ a timeless patina finish on the coins.
