Can you imagine the hummingbird is made 100% by recyled paper?
Benson Chen is a Hong Kong-based paper sculptor and mechanical engineer. In his paper rolling oeuvre, he endows the abundant paper with life and soul. Exploiting flexibility and stiffness of the paper, the artist has been crafting delicately intricate and vivid sculpture. He participated in the combined exhibition in Espacio Gallery, London.
Benson has a great admiration for the Transformer Robot Series. In the series, Optimus Prime shouts “Autobot, Roll Out” when embarking on a mission. The Roll Out Exhibition is his debut solo exhibition in Hong Kong, featuring Sci-Fi Cyborgs sculpture and ultra-realistic animal sculpture. On average, crafting a paper sculpture could take 2 to 6 months. Through the creative journey, the paper sculptor has weaved a close companionship with his work that captured his emotion.
