Description
Fine Art Asia 2021, Asia’s leading international fine art fair, will be held from Friday 8 October to Monday 11 October 2021, with a Preview on Thursday, 7 October 2021, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Despite the difficulties presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, last year Fine Art Asia succeeded in uniting the Hong Kong art community in a rare physical art fair which raised the spirits of everyone involved. Fine Art Asia 2021 aims to deliver another vibrant, home-grown art fair this autumn. Due to continuing travel restrictions, the focus will once again be on Hong Kong art and antiques galleries, as well as art institutions. Fine Art Asia was founded in 2006 by Hong Kong art experts and has earned a reputation in the international art world as the most distinguished annual fine art fair in the region. Withstanding multiple challenges over the years, Fine Art Asia has stood strong at the centre of the Hong Kong art scene, providing an unrivalled annual showcase for art and antiques from both East and West during the peak art season in Hong Kong. Fine Art Asia 2021 will once again proudly present museum-quality Asian and Western antiques, jewellery, modern and contemporary art, ink art and photography. As our overseas exhibitors as well as many collectors are sadly unable to come to Hong Kong again this year, Fine Art Asia 2021 is happy to help some international galleries to participate remotely in the fair. Meanwhile, our online activities will keep the fair connected with our worldwide audience of collectors and art lovers. Fine Art Asia 2021 is also pleased to collaborate with the Hong Kong Art Galleries Association, welcoming leading Hong Kong art galleries to the fair. As with last year’s highly successful “Hong Kong Spotlight by Art Basel Hong Kong”, this initiative brings together the city’s visual arts community, which is so crucial in the current circumstances. The Ink Society will present a special exhibition, “A Tribute to Ding Yanyong” at Fine Art Asia 2021. The exhibition is the fifth instalment of the “Tribute” series, which celebrates the art and legacies of master ink painters. Often referred to as “Matisse of the East”, Ding Yanyong (1902–1978) created a highly original visual language by synthesising the Chinese ink painting tradition with modern European art. Fine Art Asia 2021 is fortunate to have a high-profile trio of Education Partners: The Ink Society, the Hong Kong Palace Museum and Hong Kong Art School. They will once again host an Academic Programme of lectures and seminars by art experts from Hong Kong, strengthening academic discussion and interaction between scholars, galleries and collectors. Here are some art pieces will be exhibited: Ever Arts Gallery - A large bamboo "Lanting Xu" incense holder Qing Dynasty (1644-1911)|D. 3.5 x H .31 cm Rossi & Rossi - Jangchup Gyaltsen Tibet|c. 15th century|Gilt copper with painted details|H. 25.5 cm The Ink Society - the fifth instalment of the "Tribute" series: A Tribute to Ding Yanyong Ding Yanyong (1902-1978) The Eight Immortals|1977 Ink and colour on paper|H. 132.7 x W. 67 cm Wui Po Kok - A pair of gold comb tops, each with a net of pendant elements China|10th - 13th century|H. 10-12 x L. 18-18.5 cm Orientique - A fine and rare doucai saucer dish Qing Dynasty, Jiaqing seal mark and of the period (1796 – 1820)|D. 20.8 cm Grotto Fine Art - Xie Chengxuan (b. 1997) Hug II|2021 Acrylic, ink, graphite, water-based pigment on paper|H. 26.7 x W. 17 cm Karin Weber Gallery - Joey Leung (b. 1976) 3 Words About Worry|2021 Chinese ink, Chinese pigment, gouache, acrylic gouache, Japanese gold pigment, drawing pen, coloured pencil on paper|H. 59 x W. 100 cm
