Programme John BORSTLAP | Violin Concerto no. 2, Dreamscape Voyage (World Premiere) MAHLER | Symphony no. 1 The magical stillness that opens Mahler’s First Symphony could be the dawn of the world itself. But it’s certainly the start of a truly epic musical adventure with HK Phil Music Director Jaap van Zweden. First, though, HK Phil Concertmaster Jing Wang steps into the spotlight for a world first: a new violin concerto by John Borstlap, a composer who believes that good tunes never go out of fashion. The concert runs approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes with an intermission. Please note latecomers will miss the whole concerto, and the audience is advised to allow enough time for admission.
